What is Implanon?
Implanon is an estrogen-free, flexible rod the size of a matchstick, that is inserted underneath the skin of your arm by your healthcare provider at Partners In Women’s Health Care. Implanon contains a hormone called etonogestrel. Once inserted, you won’t see the Implanon and it lasts worry-free up to 3 years. If at anytime you change your mind about becoming pregnant, you can have it easily removed through a minor surgical in-office procedure.
What is Nuvaring?
NuvaRing is as effective as the pill, but you don’t have to take it every day. NuvaRing is a flexible vaginal ring approved for the prevention of pregnancy in women. This small, comfortable vaginal ring about 2 inches in diameter. It is easy to insert and remove without assistance from your doctor. NuvaRing is designed to be inserted directly in your vagina and kept there for three weeks in a row. It releases a continuous dose of low hormones into your body. On the fourth week you remove it, allowing your body a one week break, when you will normally have your menstrual period. Most women do not feel NuvaRing once it is in place. If you are using ParaGard for at least 2 years, it is the least expensive birth control option available. A simple in-office procedure by your healthcare provider inserts ParaGard without surgery or anesthesia. It can be reversed at any time. For more information on ParaGard, visit www.paragard.com.
What is Mirena?
Mirena is an estrogen-free intrauterine contraceptive (IUC) that releases small amounts of hormone directly into the uterus. There is no pill to take every day, no patch to wear, no product to insert or remove.
