Any woman who is over the age of 18 or is sexually active should have an annual well woman gynecological examination. Even women who have had a hysterectomy should schedule a yearly appointment. This is an important time for you to discuss any health issues or concerns you may have with your health care provider. It is also a time to ask questions about any female problems or sexual difficulties you may be having.
The typical well woman gynecologist exam consists of a breast exam, a pelvic exam and Pap smear, and a conversation about your physical health and family history. It may also include contraceptive counseling if you are sexually active or thinking about becoming sexually active and/or perimenopause or menopause counseling. Women who have had a hysterectomy may not have a Pap test, but need to have an examination.
Partners In Women’s Healthcare has several experienced and knowledgeable healthcare providers that can perform your annual gynecological exam. You may request any of the following practitioners: Dr. Tom Harman, Patsy Harman, CNM, and Jane Koch, CNP. Fill out our make an appointment form to schedule your visit.
